Prior to the Eraserheads reunion concert last August 30, 2008, Ely Buendia, frontman of the greatest pinoy band of all time, Eraserheads, was brought to the Philippine Heart Center (PHC) due to chest pain and shortness of breathe. And unfortunately, said symptoms aggravated at the end of the first act of the reunion concert. Ely was again brought to the PHC, and was operated for only an angioplasty, which he already had nearly a year ago.
Aside from the rigorous rehersals for the concert and emotional stress due to his mom’s demise, it was also found out that Ely was non-compliant with his cardiac medications for the past six months.
Currently, Ely is in a disclosed unit in the PHC and stil in inotrops (Dopamine and Dobutamine drips) due to intermittent hypotensive attacks. He is conscious and sometimes sings Eraserheads songs in the company of former bandmates Raymund, Buddy and Marcus, anf numerous visitors from both music and movie industry.
Long live Ely Buendia! Long Live the Eraserheads!
(From a very reliable source. Ely Buendia’s bedside nurse is a good frend of mine.)
